Chateau St Jean: Picturesque Sonoma Winery

Chateau St. Jean holds a special place in my heart as it’s the first winery I joined after moving to California a few years ago. Founded in 1973, Chateau St. Jean, located in the Kenwood area of Sonoma (Highway 12), was conceived as a true fine wine estate where wines from individual vineyards were kept separate to fully capture the individual character of each site. In 1999, Chateau St. Jean was the first Sonoma winery to be awarded the prestigious “Wine of the Year” award from Wine Spectator Magazine for its 1996 Cinq Cépages Cabernet Sauvignon, a Bordeaux-style blend of “five varieties.” As someone who appreciates boutique wineries Chateau St Jean’s beautiful gardens, European feel, welcoming staff, and wine selections make this a must stop while traveling through Sonoma.
